Position Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the day-to-day operation of TSR Hockey and helps ensure the store delivers a high level of customer service, sales performance, organization, and operational execution.
This is a hands-on leadership position. The Assistant Manager is expected to lead by example on the sales floor, assist and train employees, solve customer issues, monitor store standards, and assume responsibility for the operation of the store when the Store Manager is unavailable.
Sales & Customer Service
- Provide knowledgeable, professional service to hockey players, parents, coaches, and teams.
- Actively engage customers and help determine the appropriate equipment for their needs.
- Lead by example in selling and recommending products and services.
- Train employees on effective selling techniques, product knowledge, upselling, and cross-selling.
- Help achieve store sales, margin, and service goals.
- Handle escalated customer questions, complaints, returns, and service issues.
- Help develop long-term customer relationships and encourage repeat business.
Staff Leadership & Training
- Provide day-to-day direction to sales and operations employees.
- Help train and develop new and existing employees.
- Reinforce company policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Coach employees on customer service, sales performance, productivity, and professionalism.
- Assign work and follow up to ensure tasks are completed properly.
- Provide management with feedback regarding employee performance and training needs.
Store Operations
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Assume responsibility for store operations when senior management is unavailable.
- Ensure the sales floor, service areas, stockrooms, and customer-facing areas remain clean, organized, and professional.
- Assist with cash handling, register issues, deposits, and transaction questions as authorized.
- Ensure company procedures are followed for returns, discounts, employee purchases, inventory adjustments, and other controlled transactions.
- Assist with receiving, merchandising, replenishment, transfers, and inventory projects as needed.
- Work with existing company systems, including CounterPoint, RFID technology, POS systems, and other operational tools.
- Help identify operational problems and recommend practical improvements.
Inventory & Loss Prevention
- Support inventory accuracy throughout the store.
- Help ensure merchandise is properly received, tagged, located, and accounted for.
- Assist with cycle counts, RFID counts, physical inventories, and discrepancy research.
- Monitor compliance with inventory-control procedures.
- Identify unusual transactions, discrepancies, or procedural issues and bring them to management's attention.
Hockey Products & Services
- Maintain strong working knowledge of skates, sticks, protective equipment, gloves, helmets, apparel, accessories, and related products.
- Develop knowledge of TSR Hockey services, including skate sharpening, skate profiling, repairs, fitting, and other services.
- Help ensure employees can confidently explain products and services to customers.
- Stay informed about new products, technologies, equipment changes, and hockey-industry trends.
Qualifications
- Previous retail sales or customer-service experience required; supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Hockey retail, sporting-goods, or hockey equipment experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strong customer-service and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working with POS, inventory, RFID, and other retail technology.
- Experience with NCR CounterPoint or similar retail systems is helpful.
- Reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Performance Expectations
Success will be evaluated based on store sales performance, customer service, staff development, operational execution, inventory control, store organization, adherence to company procedures, and the ability to effectively lead the store when senior management is unavailable.

2. Inventory Specialist

Position Summary
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate, organized, and efficient inventory throughout TSR Hockey. This position helps ensure that products are received correctly, properly entered into inventory systems, accurately located, replenished to the sales floor, and available when customers and staff need them.
A key responsibility of this position is effectively utilizing and maintaining TSR Hockey's existing inventory technology and processes, including NCR CounterPoint, RFID systems, barcode scanning, and related inventory tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming merchandise and verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices.
- Count, inspect, label, and properly store incoming merchandise.
- Accurately receive, transfer, adjust, and maintain inventory within CounterPoint and other company systems.
- Utilize RFID technology, barcode scanners, and inventory counting tools to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform RFID and physical inventory counts and reconcile results against CounterPoint inventory records.
- Investigate discrepancies between physical inventory, RFID counts, and system quantities.
- Maintain accurate SKU, UPC, quantity, size, color, model, and product-location information.
- Organize stockrooms, warehouse areas, receiving areas, and sales-floor inventory.
- Replenish merchandise from back stock to the sales floor.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventories.
- Research and resolve negative inventory, unexplained adjustments, missing merchandise, and receiving errors.
- Assist management with identifying slow-moving, overstocked, and low-stock merchandise.
- Process transfers, returns, damaged merchandise, and vendor-related inventory adjustments.
- Support loss-prevention efforts by identifying unusual inventory discrepancies or activity.
- Assist with seasonal inventory changes, clearance merchandise, and merchandising projects.
Inventory Systems & Technology
The Inventory Specialist is expected to become highly proficient with TSR Hockey's existing inventory systems and processes, including CounterPoint and RFID technology.
The position will help maintain accurate data, follow established procedures, identify system-versus-physical inventory discrepancies, and improve receiving, counting, replenishment, and inventory-control processes.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with computers, POS systems, spreadsheets, RFID technology, barcode scanners, and inventory software.
- Experience with NCR CounterPoint or similar retail inventory/POS systems is preferred.
- Experience with RFID inventory systems is preferred but not required.
- Retail, warehouse, receiving, or inventory-control experience preferred.
- Hockey equipment or sporting-goods knowledge is helpful but not required.
Performance Expectations
Success in this position will be measured by inventory accuracy, receiving accuracy, RFID and physical count accuracy, reduction in unexplained discrepancies, CounterPoint record accuracy, stockroom organization, timely replenishment, and proper inventory documentation.

Position Summary
The Sales Associate is responsible for providing knowledgeable, friendly, and professional service to TSR Hockey customers while actively contributing to store sales and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment.
Sales Associates are expected to engage customers, understand their needs, recommend appropriate hockey equipment and services, and help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
Sales & Customer Service
- Greet and engage customers promptly and professionally.
- Ask questions to understand each customer's playing level, preferences, equipment needs, and budget.
- Recommend appropriate products based on customer needs.
- Actively sell hockey equipment, accessories, apparel, and TSR Hockey services.
- Identify appropriate opportunities to upsell and cross-sell complementary products and services.
- Explain product features, benefits, and differences clearly.
- Assist customers with equipment selection, sizing, and fitting.
- Provide accurate information regarding pricing, availability, promotions, services, and store policies.
- Build customer relationships and encourage repeat business.
Hockey Equipment Knowledge

Qualifications

- Hockey playing, coaching, equipment, or retail experience is strongly preferred.
- Previous retail or sales experience is helpful but not required.
